Pollution and the Death of Man
For For readers wanting an early evangelical argument for care of the natural world; not for those wanting environmental science or recent ecological theology.
Published by Tyndale House in Wheaton in 1970 with the subtitle The Christian View of Ecology (125 pages). It is an early evangelical book on the ecological crisis. The original edition printed as an appendix Lynn White Jr.'s essay "The Historical Roots of Our Ecological Crisis" and the sociologist Richard Means's "Why Worry About Nature?", the arguments to which Schaeffer was replying. His own chapters set out a Christian view of nature and of man's place in it as an answer to the crisis. Later Crossway editions keep the appendices and add an afterword by Udo W. Middelmann. The book was collected in the fifth volume of The Complete Works of Francis A. Schaeffer (1982), A Christian View of the West.
