Independent intensities, 0–5 — what the work is made of, not how good it is.
A short book based on talks Ellul gave for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, edited by Willem H. Vanderburg and translated by Joachim Neugroschel; it was published in English in 1981 (CBC and Seabury) and reissued by House of Anansi in 1997. In plain speech Ellul describes his intellectual development, his analysis of technique and society, and the place of his Christian faith in his work. It is often recommended as an introduction to him in his own words.
