The series is a topical anthology of short passages from classic Christian pastoral writers, chiefly patristic but with medieval and Reformation authors, each thematic section with Oden's own short introduction, presenting the texts of the pastoral tradition in plain English. This volume gathers what those writers said about pastoral counsel.
