The Primacy of Peter
For For readers of ecclesiology and Catholic-Orthodox dialogue who want the Orthodox case on Peter's primacy; not a popular book.
A collective volume of studies by Orthodox theologians of the Paris school, first published in French at Neuchâtel and Paris in 1960 and in German in 1961, then in English as The Primacy of Peter (London: Faith Press, 1963), with later St Vladimir's Seminary Press editions. Together the essays set out an Orthodox position on the primacy of Peter. Nicholas Koulomzine and, in the later editions, Veselin Kesich treat Peter's place in the New Testament and the early Church; Meyendorff's contribution traces how the Petrine passages were read in Byzantine theology; Alexander Schmemann and Nicholas Afanassieff discuss primacy within Orthodox ecclesiology.
