The Harris Lectures delivered at the University of Dundee in November and December 1970 under the title "God and the World", revised and published by the Scottish Academic Press in 1985 as the first volume of the series Theology and Science at the Frontiers of Knowledge, which Torrance edited. It is dedicated to Donald MacKinnon. The preface says the lectures were also given in adapted form to postgraduate students in Edinburgh, and the new title links the book with Theological Science, Christian Theology and Scientific Culture and Divine and Contingent Order; a 2001 foreword calls it a sequel to Reality and Evangelical Theology. The chapters are "Classical and Modern Attitudes of Mind", "The Status of Natural Theology", "The Science of God", "The Social Coefficient of Knowledge", "The Stratification of Truth" and "The Trinitarian Structure of Theology".
