Knowledge of God
For For students who want a sustained debate between a theist and an atheist philosopher on whether belief in God is justified; not for a reader new to philosophy.
A debate book written by Alvin Plantinga with the atheist philosopher Michael Tooley and published by Wiley-Blackwell in 2008. Each author states his case on whether belief in God is epistemically justified and then replies to the other. Plantinga's part restates his religious epistemology, the claim that belief in God can be warranted without argument, and gives a reformulation of his evolutionary argument against naturalism; Tooley argues against the existence of God, principally from evil, and against Plantinga's epistemology. The format lets a reader see both positions developed at length and tested against each other by their authors, and it follows Plantinga's Warrant trilogy and precedes Where the Conflict Really Lies.
