An introduction to the whole Bible for new readers, published in Britain by Oliphants in 1977 and in the United States by Judson Press in 1979 as Reading the Bible for the First Time. It is arranged in four parts: the story of God and his people (Genesis through Acts), the word of God to his people (law, prophets, apostolic letters, apocalyptic and wisdom), Israel's response to God (Psalms, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, Job), and the Bible today. It was first written around the Good News Bible. Goldingay revised the text slightly in 2013 and posted it on his website, inviting readers to print, copy and distribute it.
