Growing into Union: Proposals for Forming a United Church in England was published by SPCK in 1970. It came out of a dialogue between evangelical and Anglo-Catholic Anglicans who opposed the Anglican-Methodist scheme and offered an alternative path to unity; Packer wrote it with Colin Buchanan, E. L. Mascall and Graham Leonard. Gerald Bray's tribute for the Latimer Trust (2020) notes that the rapprochement it represented came to nothing.
