God Has Spoken
For For a reader who wants a clear account of revelation and the authority of the Bible. Not for one seeking a technical treatment of textual or critical questions.
A short book on revelation and Scripture, first published in 1965 by Hodder and Stoughton in London and, as God Speaks to Man: Revelation and the Bible, by the Westminster Press in Philadelphia; it was revised in 1979 and reissued in 1993. Packer argues that the canonical Scriptures are the inerrant revelation of God and explains why doctrine drawn from them matters for knowing God's character, his purposes for the world and the need for salvation. The current Crossway edition carries chapters on "The Lost Word", on God's word spoken, written and heard, a 1979 introduction and a 1993 foreword, and appends the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (1978) and the Chicago Statement on Biblical Hermeneutics (1982). It is the more popular companion to "Fundamentalism" and the Word of God.
