The Jesus Prayer
For For anyone who wants to begin the Jesus Prayer; a short, practical booklet. Not for a reader wanting the history of hesychasm.
A booklet of about 56 pages published by the Catholic Truth Society, London, in 2014, presenting the Jesus Prayer as a simple way of invoking the mercy of Christ by repeating his name, and so of obeying St Paul's counsel to pray without ceasing. Ware traces the prayer to the Desert Fathers of Egypt in the fourth and fifth centuries. It returns, for a general Catholic and Orthodox readership, to the subject of his earlier The Power of the Name.
