The Futurist Option
For For readers tracing the theology of hope and the futurist turn of the late 1960s; not a current introduction.
The Futurist Option is a book written by Carl E. Braaten and Robert W. Jenson and published by Newman Press in New York in 1970; library catalogues list Braaten as the main author and Jenson as co-author. It comes from the years in which both men, then teaching at Lutheran institutions in the American Midwest and East, were developing a theology centred on the promised future of God, the theme of Jenson's God after God (1969). It marks the beginning of the long partnership between the two theologians that later produced Christian Dogmatics, the Center for Catholic and Evangelical Theology and the journal Pro Ecclesia.
