A collection of Chesterton's verse published in 1915 (the American edition, from John Lane, followed in 1916). It opens with three verse dedications, to E. C. Bentley, Hilaire Belloc and M. E. W., and is arranged in groups: war poems, beginning with "Lepanto", Chesterton's celebrated poem on the naval battle of 1571; love poems; religious poems, including "The Wise Men", "The House of Christmas", "A Hymn for the Church Militant" and "The Nativity"; and "Rhymes for the Times", which include "Antichrist, or the Reunion of Christendom: An Ode". It gathers much of the verse for which he is best remembered, apart from The Ballad of the White Horse.
