The third and last volume of the Sayers translation of Dante's Divine Comedy, published by Penguin Books in 1962. At her death in December 1957 Sayers had translated about two-thirds of the Paradiso; her god-daughter Barbara Reynolds, a scholar of Italian, completed the translation and annotated the volume. The three volumes had sold 1.25 million copies by 1999, and Reynolds wrote that because of them Dante had been read by more English-speaking readers in forty years than in the six centuries before.
